Liverpool transfer news: How Reds suffered a DOUBLE blow after Nabil Fekir collapse
LIVERPOOL are having to go back to the drawing board after a double blow in the transfer market.
The Reds missed out on Lyon star Nabil Fekir over the weekend after concerns following the player's medical in France.
A £53m deal was expected to be completed on Friday before the transfer fell through due to a knee injury picked up by the attacker in 2015.
But according to The Times, Liverpool were also left downbeat last week when West Ham star Manuel Lanzini was ruled out for the foreseeable future.
The Argentinian will miss the World Cup and the start of the Premier League season after suffering a knee ligament injury in training.
And the publication claims Liverpool had Lanzini on their list of potential summer targets.
The double blow means Jurgen Klopp and his staff must return to the drawing board in the search for a new attacker this summer.
Other names linked with the club include Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele and Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze.
However, Stoke City wantaway Xheridan Shaqiri is currently the most likely new arrival at Anfield in the coming months.
Liverpool have already welcomed two new arrivals to Merseyside this summer after Fabinho and Naby Keita arrived from Monaco and RB Leipzig respectively.
The club have also been linked with a move for Roma shot-stopper Alisson Becker.
