Man Utd transfer news: £88m Sergej Milinkovic-Savic fee claim made by Lazio icon
MANCHESTER UNITED should snap up Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if they can strike a deal for £88m.
Milinkovic-Savic scores stunning volley for Lazio
At least that’s what former Lazio striker Pierluigi Casiraghi has suggested while hailing the midfielder as a "great player".
Milinkovic-Savic is on Jose Mourinho’s wanted list as he looks to compensate for Michael Carricks’s retirement and Marouane Fellaini’s probable departure.
Lazio are thought to be demanding a minimum of £88m (€100m) for the Serbia international - just £1m shy of Manchester United’s club-record spend on Paul Pogba.
Casiraghi seems to think Lazio should have put a higher price tag on Milinkovic-Savic as United target a deal though.
And the ex-Italy forward, who also turned out for Chelsea during his playing career, has offered a glowing verdict on the 23-year-old.
"I do not know if the valuation is right, if I had €100m I would buy him," Casiraghi told RMC Sport.
"I like him very much, not from today, he was immediately seen as a great player.
"He is unique, he is [just] 23 years old."
Casiraghi’s comments echo those of former Lazio wideman Stefano Fiore, who discussed Milinkovic-Savic last month.
"Given the figures that are now involved in football, he is worth the money because of the quality and characteristics he possesses," said Fiore.

"I also watch a lot of foreign football but players like him are not there.
"An auction will open and we'll see what happens, but if a defender can go for €70m (£61m) in England then Milinkovic-Savic is worth much more.
"That said, the market has gone crazy and should return to more normal figures."
United, meanwhile, are on the verge of completing a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.
