MAURIZIO SARRI’s appointment at Chelsea is ‘imminent’, claims Italian TV.
Marcotti says Maurizio Sarri in contention for Chelsea job
Sarri is all set to replace Antonio Conte as the manager of Chelsea.
Express Sport understands the Blues held talks with Sarri’s representatives over an appointment this week.
He will replace Antonio Conte, who is expected to leave the club.
Neapolitan station Radio Kiss Kiss reported earlier today that fresh information of Sarri’s situation would be released later on Friday night.
And Italian TV station Mediaset claim the deal has been agreed.
According to the report, Sarri has settled on a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge, worth £5.25m per season.
Mediaset claim Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich gave the green light to director Marina Granovskaia to get the deal sorted.
All that is needed now is for Sarri to sign the proposed contract and an official announcement can be made - the report claims.
But Sarri will not come cheap.
He has a £7m release clause at Napoli, with the Serie A club still employing him for the remainder of his 12-month contract even though Carlo Ancelotti has come in to replace the 59-year-old.
Conte, meanwhile, is expected to fight for a full £9m compensation package should Chelsea sack him.
Sarri will have funds to spend in the transfer window, with Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj supposedly on his radar.
