Chelsea launch Maurizio Sarri offer and will hold fresh talks TODAY to replace Conte
CHELSEA have offered Maurizio Sarri a €5m a year deal and will hold further talks with him today.
Sarri has emerged as Chelsea’s top target to replace Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Conte is expected to depart in the coming days after beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
However the deal for Sarri still depends on an agreement with Conte, who would be owned around £9m for the season.
Italian football expert Tancredi Palmeri tweeted: “Chelsea-Sarri: offered a 5 millions € per year contract.
“New meeting today. Deal pending on walk out agreement with Conte.”
Napoli have already replaced Sarri with Carlo Ancelotti, although he remains under contract and Chelsea would likely have to pay compensation.
However Express Sport understands Napoli would be willing to wave the fee if Chelsea sell them David Luiz.
Conte’s time at Chelsea has been soured after winning the title in his first season at the club.
Chelsea finished fifth in his second season and he constantly battled with the board over transfers.
Tensions flared last summer when he sold Diego Costa to go and then sold Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.
He made public complaints about his backing despite spending around £180m
Sarri guided Napoli to second place in Serie A, winning over 90 points, but leaves this summer.
Chelsea also looked at Luis Enrique but Sarri is now in pole position for the job.
