Next Arsenal manager: Massimiliano Allegri wants to stay at Juventus
That is according to Sky Sports transfer expert Kaveh Solhekol.
Allegri was one of the early favourites to replace Arsene Wenger at the helm at Arsenal.
However, he distanced himself from those reports on Sunday, insisting he would stay at Juventus unless he got sacked.
Manchester City assistant coach and former Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta is now the favourite to take over at Arsenal, despite having no managerial experience.
They would have looked at the squad and thought ‘yeah, this is a big job, I’m going to need more than £50m’
Solhekol says the likes of Allegri and another candidate in former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique would have demanded more transfer funds to spend.
But he reckons Arteta would be more willing to take the job as it would be his first step into management.
“They would have had a look at the Arsenal squad and they would have had thoughts, ideas, about where they think they need to change things, the kind of money that they need to turn things around,” Solhekol said on the Transfer Talk podcast.
“They would have looked at the squad and thought ‘yeah, this is a big job, I’m going to need more than £50m’.

“So that kind of thing would put off the big, big name managers.
“Also, the fact that although they are used to working with a head of recruitments and directors of football and chief executives, they wouldn’t quite have as much power as maybe they’d want to have.
“Also they certainly, absolutely, will never have as much power as Arsene Wenger had at Arsenal.”
