Salah has led Liverpool to the Champions League final and bagged 43 goals across all competitions this season.
That’s exactly the same tally as Barcelona star Messi, who guided his side to the La Liga title.
Salah didn’t get on the scoresheet as Liverpool were beaten 4-2 by Roma last night, though the Reds progressed through to the final after a 5-2 first leg victory at Anfield.
But Barca legend Kluivert, who scored over 100 goals for the Catalan giants, believes the Egyptian can take over as one of the world’s greatest players.
People do we agree that @MoSalah is the new Leo Messi ? He needs to do what he is doing now year after year ofcourse but the beauty of football what he is showing at the moment is so amazing. Let’s have a look this evening what he will bring on the pitch #ilovethisplayer

Kluivert tweeted: “People do we agree that Mo Salah is the new Leo Messi? He needs to do what he is doing now year after year of course but the beauty of football what he is showing at the moment is so amazing.”
Salah has taken the Premier League by storm since joining Liverpool from Roma last season.
He is currently leading the race for the Golden Boot with 31 goals, four ahead of Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Messi has a very similar tally as he leads the La Liga scoring charts with 32.
Messi has won the Ballon d’Or five times though not lifted the trophy since 2015.
Salah is expected to be in the running for the gong in 2018 alongside Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Salah will now meet Ronaldo in the Champions League final in Kiev on May 26.
