Liverpool news: Philippe Coutinho DESTROYED by Boring James Milner after Barcelona defeat
PHILIPPE COUTINHO is the butt of Liverpool fans’ jokes after Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League.
Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool for Barcelona in January
Coutinho, who left Liverpool for Barcelona in a £142million deal in January, watched on from the sidelines as his new team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Roma in the second leg of their quarter-final tie while his former side progressed to the last four.
The Boring James Milner account on Twitter was quick to mock the Brazil international.
The parody account published a fake text conversation between Milner and Coutinho, with the caption: “Just catching up with Philippe Coutinho but he doesn't seem very chatty.”
The ‘chat’ went as follows…
Philippe Coutinho will receive a Champions League medal if Liverpool win trophy
‘Milner’: Hi Philippe. How are you tonight?
‘Coutinho’: Who is this?
‘Milner’: It’s James. James Milner.
‘Coutinho’: Oh, hi James. Yeah, now’s not the best time.
‘Milner’: Is that because you could be playing in the Champions League semi-finals if you hadn’t have joined Barcelona in January?
‘Coutinho’: Si James.
‘Milner’: It’s quite ironic actually isn’t it, Philippe?
‘Milner’: Because Barcelona have been knocked out by Roma.
‘Milner’: Philippe?
‘Milner’: Philippe, are you still there?
Despite Barcelona exiting the competition, Coutinho could still get on his hands on a Champions League medal.
The 25-year-old is in line to receive a medal if Liverpool win the competition because he featured five times for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the group stage.
Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has blasted the prospect of Coutinho picking up a medal.
"He left Liverpool to go to Barcelona knowing he wasn’t going to play Champions League football," Thompson told Sky Sports.
Liverpool midfielder James Milner starred in their two-legged win against Manchester City
“I got a medal in 1977 for Liverpool because I played up until the semi-finals.
“I don’t count that as a winners medal. I have that in my house in a cabinet but I say wherever I go I’ve only two European Cup winners medals.
“I’d like to think if there’s anything about Coutinho, if they do go on to win it, he says ‘no, I don’t deserve that’.
“And he wouldn’t be. I don’t care, it’s wrong.”
