Arsenal vs Southampton confirmed team news: Wenger rests big names, Nelson starts
ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has handed youngster Reiss Nelson his first Premier League start.
Wet conditions outside the Emirates
Nelson has been handed an opportunity in the Europa League this season but has now been given a chance to shine from the start in the league.
And he is one of seven changes to the Arsenal side which beat CSKA Moscow on Thursday.
Into the team come Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Calum Chambers, Danny Welbeck, Sead Kolasinac, Alex Iwobi and Mohamed Elneny.
Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil, Nacho Monreal and Jack Wilshere drop to the bench. Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey are left out of the squad altogether.
For Southampton, Mark Hughes makes four chances after last week’s damaging 3-0 defeat at West Ham.
Maya Yoshida, Oriel Romeu, Shane Long and James Ward-Prowse all start in place of Manolo Gabbiadini, Nathan Redmond, Charlie Austin and Mario Lemina.
