The former Liverpool ace and now Sky Sports TV pundit was caught on camera aiming a mouthful of saliva at the passenger window of a car containing a Manchester United fan and his 14-year-old daughter.
The incident happened after Manchester United beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
The father of the young girl claims the “bit of banter” with the Liverpool legend took a turn for the worse after he mentioned United’s winning scoreline, at which point Carragher then proceeded to spit out of his car window.

In footage of the incident obtained by the Daily Mirror, the girl can be heard saying: “He spat on me.”
He then asks her: “Where did it hit you?” She replies: “On my face.”
The girl’s mother has slammed the former Liverpool ace for his outburst.
“I was extremely angry and disappointed that he could even bring himself to do something like that,” she said.
Sky Sports have also condemned Carragher’s behaviour

“Looking at her, you know she is a child.
“What did she do wrong? She did not do anything wrong. Spitting at someone is the lowest of the low. It is disgusting.
“In all the years I’ve watched football, isn’t it all about banter?
“And he could not take that little bit of banter?
“It was nothing. I could understand if someone was in his face, giving him abuse.”
Jamie Carragher apologises after spitting incident
Carragher phoned the girl and her father last night to apologise for his actions: “I just want to apologise and I hope you are OK.” The youngster told him: “OK, thanks for apologising.”
But his weekend has gone bad to worse.
Carragher was lined up for appear on TV3 Sport as a pundit for Manchester United’s Champions League game against Sevilla, however, he has since been axed in the wake of the spitting incident.
Sky Sports bosses will be speaking to Carragher about the incident
TV3 Sport executive director Peter Norrelund said: “It does not look good.
“He should have been at Old Trafford tomorrow for United-Sevilla, and we have chosen to sit over.
“We have sent an employee to Liverpool so we can get the story from the horse's mouth.”
While Sky Sports have also condemned Carragher’s behaviour.
“It's unacceptable behaviour and we will be addressing it with Jamie,” they said in a statement.
