Arsenal news: Charlie Nicholas makes shock exclusion in Carabao Cup final team prediction
ARSENAL hero Charlie Nicholas does not think Jack Wilshere will be in the starting XI against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final tomorrow.
Nicholas believes Jack Wilshere will be left out of the Arsenal side for the Carabao Cup final
Following Arsenal’s shock 2-1 Europa League last-32 second-leg loss to Ostersunds on Thursday, Nicholas has demanded 11 changes.
But the Scot admitted David Ospina will start in goal and Hector Bellerin will stay at right-back, so settled with nine alterations.
He does not think Wilshere, who was captain on the night against Ostersunds, will start.
“Make 11 changes,” Nicholas said on Sky Sports.
I’ve got a feeling Jack won’t play. Bellerin will start because they don’t have any alternatives
“He won’t, he’ll keep the goalkeeper. I’ve got a feeling Jack won’t play.
“Bellerin will start because they don’t have any alternatives.
“Other ones within that (team against Ostersunds) I don’t think have got any right to be in the team anyway. So nine changes."
Nicholas reckons Arsenal can beat Manchester City but only if their star players shine.
Wilshere reflects on Arsenal's home defeat to Ostersunds
Charlie Nicholas expects Arsene Wenger to make five changes from Arsenal's defeat to Ostersunds
He continued: “Can they win tomorrow? With (Mesut) Ozil and (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang and these players having a real good day, yes, of course they can.
“On a one-off game they can beat anybody. But you just don’t trust it at the minute, you just don’t trust the midfield.
“Arsenal may play a cautious game and play two holding midfield players.
“I don’t like that system because the two of them, (Mohamed) Elneny and (Granit) Xhaka, are not good enough in my opinion to play the roles correctly.”
