Jose Mourinho to QUIT Manchester United soon despite signing new contract - pundit
JOSE MOURINHO’s new contract at Manchester United means nothing and he could soon leave his role at the club.
Manchester United look back at Mourinho’s memorable moments
That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and legendary Southampton forward Matt Le Tissier.
Mourinho signed a one-year extension earlier this week to keep him at Manchester United until 2020.
By the end of the contract the Portuguese boss would have been at Old Trafford for four years, the longest he has ever stayed in charge of a club at one time.
But Le Tissier is not convinced Mourinho will see out the new deal he has just penned with the Red Devils.
Jose Mourinho won't be at Man United much longer despite signing a new contract, reckons Le Tissier
I think he’s signed extensions before and then pretty soon after that he tends to leave
“I’m not really surprised no,” Le Tissier said of the new contract.
“I think he’s signed extensions before and then pretty soon after that he tends to leave.
“Contracts mean very little in this day and age in football.
“I don’t take a great deal of notice about that.”
Jose Mourinho's new contract at Manchester United means nothing, claims Le Tissier
Le Tissier does think Jose Mourinho will remain at United this summer though and says not having to pay a transfer fee for Alexis Sanchez, who arrived from Arsenal in a straight swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, will help his future transfer plans.
“He hasn’t had to splash out in terms of a transfer fee,” he added.
“Obviously the wages are pretty high. But when he goes again in the summer, I think he’ll be looking for a big pot to go and compete with Man City in terms of squad depth.”
