Edin Dzeko to Chelsea: Family demand Roma stay as striker dallies on transfer
EDIN DZEKO’s proposed move to Chelsea is being held up by more than just contract talks.
Chelsea want to sign Roma striker Edin Dzeko
Chelsea are desperate to sign a striker and Dzeko fits the bill.
They are still negotiating with Roma over a deal, while the striker wants a two-and-a-half-year contract rather than the one Chelsea have offered, which would expire in 2019.
But in a fresh twist to this transfer saga, it appears as though Dzeko will also have to convince his family to leave Rome.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claim Dzeko has not yet decided what to do about his future.
The former Manchester City star won the title with the Etihad club back in 2012 but was never given a guaranteed run in the first team.
He left City for Roma initially on loan in 2015 before completing a permanent deal to the Italian capital a year later.
Gazzetta claim Dzeko’s family are urging him to reject the Chelsea move.
Yet Roma expect him to leave.
Edin Dzeko is one of Roma's best players
Meanwhile, former footballer and now football agent Massimo Briaschi says the deal is close to being done.
"Now he has a foot in London," the former Juventus hitman told Tutto Mercato Web Radio.
"There are still situations to be fixed but I think he will go to Chelsea.
"The proposal is important for Roma and the player."
