Newcastle news: Rafa Benitez given green light to swoop for Everton target Joe Bryan
NEWCASTLE UNITED gaffer Rafa Benitez has been given the green light by owner Mike Ashley to move for Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan.
Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan is wanted by Newcastle, Everton and Brighton
Ashley has called off takeover talks with prospective buyer Amanda Staveley and is focusing on landing the targets Benitez has provided before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Newcastle are preparing a bid for Bryan but face competition from two Premier League rivals.
Everton are on the hunt for a left-back after losing Leighton Baines to injury.
Cuco Martina has failed to win over the Goodison Park faithful and Toffees boss Sam Allardyce has turned his attention to Bryan.

Brighton also fancy the 24-year-old, who can also play on the left wing.
Championship outfit City are reportedly willing to sell Bryan for £7million.
Bryan, who has 18 months left on his contract, has been a regular for the Robins since making his debut in March 2012.
The attacking full-back has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season.
He opened the scoring and was named man of the match when City beat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final last month.
