Kop chiefs made the stunning transfer hijack bid when it emerged Manchester City hadn't got a deal wrapped up for the Arsenal star.
However, the move broke down as Liverpool could not compete with the sensational wages offered by Manchester United, the Daily Star report.
The huge contract he has agreed will see Sanchez move from Arsenal this week on up to £500,000-a-week.
It's said Liverpool will now turn their attentions to Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, 26, and Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez, also 26.

Gary Lineker revealed last night that he expects Alexis Sanchez to be announced as a Manchester United player on Monday.
The Match of the Day host delivered the transfer update on Saturday night's show after highlights of Arsenal's 4-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Lineker said: "We understand it's not quite over the line but it's getting pretty close.
"It's expected to be announced Monday if all goes swimmingly well for both sides."

Arsene Wenger had earlier revealed how Manchester United will only sign Arsenal forward Sanchez if Henrikh Mkhitaryan moves the other way.
United boss Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, said they were "doing absolutely everything they can" to finalise the deal.
On why Sanchez didn't feature against Palace, Wenger said: "He didn't play because you cannot drive up north and play football at the same time."
"Sanchez will only happen if Mkhitaryan comes. That's why it takes longer."
