The four strikers Leeds could sign after Thomas Christiansen’s transfer comments
LEEDS UNITED boss Thomas Christiansen has admitted the club could sign a new striker this month - and Express Sport looks at who would be decent additions for the Championship play-off contenders.
Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen has indicated a striker could be signed this month
The Whites have struggled in attack this term after selling last season’s top scorer Chris Wood to Burnley in the previous transfer window.
Hamburg loanee Pierre-Michel Lasogga has failed to impress while Caleb Ekuban has spent most of his time on the sidelines due to injury.
Makeshift striker Kemar Roofe currently leads the line but he has blown hot and cold in recent weeks.
Christiansen was asked at a press conference on Friday whether he would like a new striker, and he replied: “That could be a possibility, but as I said the market is very difficult right now.
“But of course, if it helps the team, of course.”

Preston striker Jordan Hugill
Jordan Hugill
Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill is on Leeds’ wanted list.
Hugill, 25, has enhanced his growing reputation with eight goals in 25 league appearances this term.
The powerful centre-forward is capable of leading the line on his own so would fit perfectly into Christiansen’s formation.
However, Leeds are currently unwilling to meet Preston’s demands.
Former Sunderland loanee Lewis Grabban
Lewis Grabban
Bournemouth hotshot Lewis Grabban is up for grabs after being recalled from Sunderland.
Grabban, 29, hit 12 Championship goals in 19 appearances for the relegation-threatened Black Cats before cancelling his loan deal.
Cherries boss Eddie Howe has confirmed he can leave on a permanent deal this month.
A host of clubs including Wolves, Cardiff City and Aston Villa have been linked with Grabban.
Peterborough striker Jack Marriott
Jack Marriott
Peterborough ace Jack Marriott is tearing up League One.
The 23-year-old has hit 17 league goals in six more in other competitions so it’s no surprise that a host of Championship clubs are keen.
Leeds have been linked with Marriott, who has the pace and power to play as a sole striker.
However, Posh chairman is unlikely to sanction a sale unless he receives a big bid.
Former Huddersfield striker Nahki Wells
Nahki Wells
A loan deal could prove to be the winner for Leeds and Burnley striker Nahki Wells would fit the bill.
Wells joined Burnley from Huddersfield last summer but has made just four cameo appearances in all competitions.
The 27-year-old missed a big chunk of the campaign due to injury so the Clarets could be tempted to loan him out.
Wells has scored 45 Championship goals in his career, and cancelling Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s loan deal would free up a spot for the Bermuda international.
