David Seaman makes Liverpool transfer jibe ahead of Arsenal clash
ARSENAL legend David Seaman has taken a swipe at Liverpool ahead of their Friday night clash.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits he'll keep improving at Liverpool
Seaman, who made 405 appearances for the Gunners, says he was sad to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave North London on deadline day.
And he jibed that the fact it was to Liverpool made it all the worse.
The two sides meet at the Emirates on Friday.
Seaman said: “It was a shame to lose him but he should get a great reception because he was a great player and you could tell that he loved playing for Arsenal.
“The Ox will feel pressure. He gave everything [for Arsenal], it’s just a shame we lost him to Liverpool.”
David Seaman played for Arsenal between 1990 and 2003
Liverpool’s defence is not strong at the moment, it’s not confident and it’s a little bit unpredictable
The 24-year-old has struggled to justify his £35million fee since making the move, having scored just two goals against Maribor and West Ham.
Despite that, Jurgen Klopp has started to show more faith in the England international handing him starts in big games against Chelsea and Everton before he impressed in Sunday’s victory at Bournemouth.
Liverpool are unbeaten in nine league matches but Seaman is confident Wenger’s side can get their own back after being embarrassed 4-0 in August.
Seaman was disappointed to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain depart Arsenal
Seaman said: “Liverpool’s defence is not strong at the moment, it’s not confident and it’s a little bit unpredictable.
“I’m going to go 3-1 Arsenal because we need to redeem the terrible performance we’ve played at Anfield.”
Seaman has criticised Jurgen Klopp's defence
The former England international then revealed that he thinks it will be difficult for both clubs to make it into the top four.
He told TAG Heuer: “I think only one of them will get in [top four] and hopefully that’s going to be Arsenal. Even that’s going to be a push.”
The Gunners remain a point adrift of Liverpool, who occupy fourth spot as it stands. A win would see them climb into that spot ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.
