Tempers reached boiling point after the match, which City won 2-1 courtesy of goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi.
City players were jubilant at the final whistle and their celebrations carried on into the tunnel and the changing rooms.
Mourinho took umbrage to their overzealous reaction and approached the away changing room door.
But City goalkeeper Ederson got involved in a heated discussion in Portuguese.
Mourinho then switched back to English and reportedly said: “you f****** show respect. Who are you?”
And at that point the boss had MILK and water thrown at him.
Tempers were already high during the match with Mourinho incensed over Michael Oliver’s decision not to award his side a penalty in the second half, with Ander Herrera instead being shown a yellow card for simulation.
Mourinho said after the match: “My first reaction is I feel sorry for referee Michael Oliver because he had a very good match but unfortunately he made an important mistake.
“It is like last season, exactly the same. You can speak about anything you want, you can bring any football theory, you can bring the stats, the ball possession, you can bring everything you want but, like last season, it is a huge penalty in a crucial moment of the game.”
