Leeds news: Chris Iwelumo explains the big negative of Felix Wiedwald’s blunder
GOALKEEPER Felix Wiedwald's clangers are adding unnecessary pressure to Leeds United’s defence.
Chris Iwelumo delivered his verdict on Felix Wiedwald's blunder
That is according to Championship pundit Chris Iwelumo, who believes Wiedwald cannot use an “awkward bounce” as an excuse for QPR’s freak goal in Leeds’ 3-1 win at Elland Road.
The Whites were leading 2-0 with only injury time left to play when he misjudged Rs full-back Pawel Wszolek’s speculative punt into the box.
“I feel for him,” Iwelumo said on Football on 5: The Championship. “I think it is another [howler].
“I don’t really know what he’s thinking. I think he wants to come out and claim it.
“It’s not a bad bounce, it’s not an awkward bounce - he’s just judged it wrong.
Thomas Christiansen reveals what he said to Felix Wiedwald after QPR clanger
As a defence, you want to look behind you and be confident in everything he does
“It puts pressure on his team. As a defence, you want to look behind you and be confident in everything he does.
“It was a sloppy one but they saw it out.”
Wiedwald redeemed himself moments after his blunder, pulling off a stop from substitute Idrissa Sylla before Kemar Roofe grabbed his third goal of the game to seal the points.
The 27-year-old sent a message to Leeds fans after the final whistle at Loftus Road.
“I am really happy that I could help the team after my big mistake,” he said on Instagram.
“Thank you so much for the great support.”

Head coach Thomas Christiansen refused to put the boot into Wiedwald in his post-match press conference.
Asked what he said to the German after the final whistle, Christiansen said: “Congratulations! What should I say? Thanks for saving two or three opportunities.
“Okay, he made a mistake but it didn’t cost us the three points.”
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani also issued a message of support to Wiedwald.
A supporter asked Radrizzani on Twitter to sign a “new keeper”.
But he replied: “No one talking about his great save on the 2-1?
“It’s time to support our players and be all together... many points to get playing and fighting united.”
