Barcelona news: Gary Lineker reveals what Barca must do to get over Neymar exit
BARCELONA need more to replace Neymar.
Neymar left Barcelona for PSG in the summer
That is the opinion of former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker.
Neymar quit the Nou Camp this summer when PSG triggered his release clause by paying £200m.
Barca used some of the money to sign Ousmane Dembele but Lineker thinks they need more to plug the gap.
They failed in their bid to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona but may go back in for him in January or next summer.
"I suspect Barcelona still need another replacement for Neymar, whether that’s Philippe Coutinho, we will see,” he told Goal.com.
“They look a little bit short now without Neymar. Whether they can do that in the January transfer window, which is notoriously difficult, maybe they will have to wait until next summer.”
Barcelona are trying to fill a Neymar-size hole in their team this season
Barcelona have been in brilliant form in the league, and lead Valencia by five points and Real Madrid, down in fourth, by eight points.
Dembele has struggled with injury since arriving at the Nou Camp, but Messi has led the charge.
The Argentina star, who signed a new deal last week, has scored a stunning 13 goals in 14 La Liga games and three in five in the Champions League.
And Lineker thinks he’s even more important now Neymar has left the club.
"I think Neymar leaving made Messi more important to Barcelona,” Lineker added.
“Messi is in his 30s, what’s he got left? Maybe two more years in his peak and maybe he will start to decline. Hopefully he has two more good years in him before the legs start to go.
"It happens to all of us, even those who are gifts from the footballing gods."
