Leeds news: Thomas Christiansen’s side ‘showed heart and spirit’ in Wolves defeat
LEEDS UNITED “showed heart and spirit” in their 4-1 defeat at Championship leaders Wolves.
Thomas Christiansen' side showed spirit in the defeat, according to Noel Whelan
That is according to former Leeds striker Noel Whelan, who says Thomas Christiansen’s side must bounce back from the Molineux thrashing by beating Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday.
Barry Douglas and Ivan Cavaleiro fired Wolves in front by half time but Ezgjan Alioski threatened a comeback when he scored after the break.
However, the home side capitalised on Ronaldo Vieira’s sending off on the hour mark to secure all three points, with Jota and Helder Costa netting.
“Wolves are going to win this league,” Whelan said. “From what I have seen they are by far the best team in this division.
“They have spent big on excellent players.
Leeds still showed heart and spirit
“That's the difference, they have excellent players and we have very good ones.
“Leeds still showed heart and spirit and that they have the right attitude.
“We've got to put this behind us now.”
Middlesbrough fan goes on EPIC rant at Leeds
Leeds headed into the game on a high after beating Middlesbrough on Sunday and Whelan believes a win against Barnsley would make it a successful week.
“Leeds would have taken six points from three games at the start of the week,” he said.
“Barnsley is a difficult place to go to and we are going to have to be up for the fight and win our individual battles.”
