Chelsea news: Marcos Alonso wanted in player-swap deal with Atletico Madrid
ATLETICO MADRID are preparing to launch a surprise raid for left-back Marcos Alonso in January, according to reports.
Alonso displays outrageous shooting accuracy in training
Alonso was a key component of Antonio Conte's side clinched the Premier League title last year.
And he has also been a regular starter this term with 16 appearances.
However, spanish publication El Gol Digial are reporting that Atletico are keen on taking the wing-back to his hometown of Madrid.
It suggests that the Blues will make an approach for Atletico's highly-rated Beligum midfielder Yannick Carrasco.
But Diego Simeone would apparently want Alonso as a makeweight in the deal.
Marcos Alonso could leave Stamford Bridge in January.
The capture of Alonso would divide opinion among the Atletico supporters.
The Spaniard started his career at cross-city rivals Real, but only made one appearance at the Bernabeu.
The report also suggests that Chelsea's interest in Tottenham left-back Danny Rose could push him down the pecking order.
The Blues were heavily linked with the England international all summer but a move failed to materialise.
Yannick Carrasco is a target for Chelsea.
If their interest is rekindled in January, then Alonso could become surplus to requirements and allowed to leave Stamford Bridge.
Atletico already deploy a formation of three at the back, allowing full-backs to bomb on down the wings.
This would suit Alonso who is currently successfully operating as a wing-back.
