Bristol City star would be perfect for Leeds: He should be their top transfer target
LEEDS UNITED are likely to be busy in the January transfer window - and the Whites should use the opportunity to plug their problematic left-back spot.
Leeds should consider signing Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan
Elland Road chiefs attempted to fill the void left by Charlie Taylor’s summer departure to Burnley by signing Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
But the 20-year-old - currently sidelined by an ankle injury - has failed to impress.
Swiss ace Gaetano Berardi remains a decent option, but they could easily source an upgrade.
Leeds may be casting their transfer net far-and-wide since Andrea Radrizzani’s takeover but their best bet is to raid a Championship rival.
And Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan is the perfect man for the job.
The 24-year-old is an ever-present, playing every minute for the Robins since the start of the season.
He’s a sound defender, making the second-highest number of tackles in the Championship this term, with a 54 per cent success rate.
Bryan also has a terrific engine and is capable of getting up the wing with regular success.
He’s about to enter the final 18 months of his contract, but it would be a surprise for City to sell to a promotion rival in the middle of the campaign.
Leeds were linked with a summer move for Bryan and team-mate Aden Flint, but Robins boss Lee Johnson recently claimed the speculation was false.
He said: "It wasn't true. So I think that is the easiest way to answer that one.
"It was all tweets and hearsay but it wasn't true.
"Certainly no information game to me and I am sure I would be the first to know if that had been the case."
Leeds have cash to burn thanks to the summer sale of Chris Wood, so they could put in a big enough bid - but would City be tempted to sell?
