Celtic news: We have nothing to lose against Bayern Munich - Dedryck Boyata
CELTIC defender Dedryck Boyata believes his side have nothing to lose when they host Bayern Munich in the Champions League tomorrow (7.45pm).
Boyata says Celtic will be out to produce another famous shock
Brendan Rodgers’ side were drawn in a group of death alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern and Anderlecht.
And at the half-way point they sit third in the table with three points - just one win behind second-placed Bayern.
But Celtic are not expected to progress to the knockout stages - which Boyata believes could play into their hands.
“We have to try and play our game,” Boyata said.
“We have nothing to lose and everything to show. We’re playing against one of the biggest teams in Europe, against players who have won in the World Cup final.
Boyata faced the press ahead of the clash with Bayern Munich
We just need to work as hard as we can, not be afraid, play our game and see what happens.
"It’s a big opportunity for us to show what we can do. It will be difficult but we need to be on top of our game, from the goalkeeper to the strikers.
“We just need to work as hard as we can, not be afraid, play our game and see what happens.”
Celtic have become infamous for slaying giants on Europe’s biggest stage of late.
The Scottish outfit surprised the world by beating Barcelona 2-1 in 2012.
And that memorable night at Celtic Park had an electric atmosphere, one Boyata is hoping will be replicated against Bayern.
"We know how important the crowd can be with the noise and everything," he said.
Celtic lost the reverse fixture 3-0 two weeks ago
"Playing at Celtic Park is like having a 12th man and it is always good for us. We know how to deal with the pressure and it’s always a plus for us to play here.
“We have been preparing well and playing well together.
“We know we can do that so it’s just a case of remaining focused.”
