Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham: Jose Mourinho praises REFEREE after victory against Spurs
JOSE MOURINHO praised referee Jonathan Moss after his side beat Spurs 1-0 in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho led his side to a 1-0 win
Manchester United rose to within two points of league-leaders Manchester City, who play Swansea this afternoon (3pm).
Anthony Martial came off the bench to scored the winner and claim United’s first league win in three games.
Mourinho said: “That was difficult, it could have been a draw. Both teams were trying to win but both knew the opponent was strong.
"Apart from Dele Alli’s chance, we controlled them well. It was tactically difficult for both and it was well refereed.
“It was strong, aggressive.
It was tactically difficult for both and it was well refereed.
"We knew if we had one defensive mistake we could lose and that's what happened to them.
"We tried and we deserved the victory."
Mourinho has a history of clashing with English officials, not least West Yorkshire-based Moss.
The United boss was banned for one game after a foul-mouthed rant in 2015 where he accused Moss of being “f****** weak” as his Chelsea side were defeated by West Ham.
Mourinho was also slapped with a £40,000 fine for his actions.
Anthony Martial scored the winning goal
Along with Moss, match-winner Martial was also praised after the game for netting the winning goal.
"Sometimes he starts the match and his contribution is good but he doesn't score,” Mourinho added.
"I don't understand some reactions when people question 'are they Red Devils'? The two strikers were up against amazing central defenders. some of the best in Europe.
"Martial scores with a bad shot, but the bad shots can be the most beautiful.
"To play well against a very, very good team feels even better."
