Man City’s dismantling of Chelsea was frightening… they have edge in title race - Redknapp
JAMIE REDKNAPP thinks things are clicking at just the right time for Manchester City in the title race.
Man City star Sergio Aguero involved in car crash in Amsterdam
Pep Guardiola’s men coped without Sergio Aguero, who was involved in a car crash in the early hours of Friday, and beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The victory ensured they remain top of the Premier League table on goal difference, despite Manchester United thrashing Crystal Palace 4-0.
And Redknapp thinks the masterclass City showed against the Blues shows they have the edge in the title race.
After dominating possession for large periods of the game, Guardiola's men came away from west London with all three points thanks to Kevin De Bruyne's precise strike.
Pep Guardiola's men are looking almost unstoppable at the moment
The way Guardiola's men dismantled Antonio Conte's side was frightening
“Everything is clicking into gear for Guardiola but, as we saw last season, he can be unwilling to compromise on his style when things start to go wrong,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
“Mourinho is more pragmatic and at Manchester United he has a team of destroyers who have scored four goals in more than half of their fixtures in all competitions so far.
“You cannot yet rule out Chelsea or Tottenham — but the way Guardiola's men dismantled Antonio Conte's side was frightening.
“That outstanding quality gives City the edge.”
Jamie Redknapp thinks Manchester City currently hold the advantage in the title race
Redknapp doesn't think Aguero was missed for City against Chelsea, adding: "The absence of the injured Sergio [Aguero] helped Pep Guardiola's side.
"With the young, hungry trio of Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling in the front three, City pressed Chelsea from the front with such energy that they could not get out of their half.”
City face Stoke in their first league game after the international break on October 14 (3pm).
