Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho has midfield to rival Sir Alex Ferguson era - Paul Scholes
MANCHESTER UNITED have assembled a midfield that Sir Alex Ferguson would have been proud of, according to Paul Scholes.

Manchester United have spent big since Jose Mourinho took charge of the club, adding a wealth of talent to their midfield.
The club broke the bank to bring in Paul Pogba from Juventus last summer for £89million - setting a world transfer record at the time.
And this summer has seen the addition of Nemanja Matic for a further £40m, giving Jose Mourinho a number of options in the centre of the park.
And Paul Scholes thinks the Red Devils now have a squad to rival Sir Alex Ferguson’s of the early 2000s.

“I remember when there was me and Roy [Keane], [Juan Sebastian] Veron, Nicky Butt and Ryan [Giggs] who played in central midfield,” Scholes told reporters at the Premier Futsal tournament in Dubai.
“There was an abundance of good midfielders and I think now they’ve got the same kind of squad.
“You’ve got Herrera who is not getting a game, Michael Carrick who’s not getting a game.
“Pogba and Matic seem to be the first choice but Mourinho can mix and match; the midfield should be as good as any.”
United last won the Premier League in the 2012/13 season - Scholes’ last at the club - but he thinks they can go toe-to-toe with Manchester City this term.
“I think it will come down to who can be better defensively – who can concede the least goals,” he added.
“I don’t think either side has really been tested yet against a top team.
“When they do we’ll have a better idea.”
