Newcastle transfer news: Danny Ings, Loic Remy and Lucas Perez wanted - Keith Downie
NEWCASTLE reportedly have a three-man shortlist to replace Fulham-bound striker Dwight Gayle.
Newcastle Transfer News: Rafa Benitez has three-man shortlist to replace Dwight Gayle
Fulham this week made a £15million bid to sign Gayle, who was Newcastle’ top goalscorer last season as they clinched the Championship title.
And according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Liverpool striker Danny Ings, Chelsea outcast Loic Remy and Arsenal forward Lucas Perez could replace Gayle at St James’ Park.
But it’s Perez, who has made no secret of his desire to leave the Gunners all summer, who is most likely to sign for Newcastle.
The Spaniard signed for Arsenal in a £17m deal last year but has struggled for game time, making just 11 Premier League appearances last season.
Newcastle eye moves for Danny Ings, Loic Remy and Lucas Perez
Downie told Sky Sports: “Strikers Danny Ings, Loic Remy and Lucas Perez have all been put to me this morning.
“It’s my understanding that Arsenal’s Perez is the most likely of the three of them to arrive here at Newcastle.
“Manager Rafa Benitez is not here yet as he has been attending a manager’s conference in Nyon.
“He’s currently on his way back over and is due back in Newcastle at lunch time to take training. We’re sure he’ll be busy behind the scenes as well.”
