JAMIE REDKNAPP has questioned Arsenal’s interest in Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, insisting they are missing a couple of ‘powerhouses’ in their side.

Manchester City made a £50million bid for Alexis Sanchez yesterday, and reports had previously emerged City were looking at a player-plus-cash deal which would see Sterling head the other way to the Emirates.
Other reports suggested Sterling is open to a return to London, having previously rose through the ranks of QPR’s academy before he was snapped up by then Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez in 2010.
The Gunners have so far made two signings this summer - Sead Kolasniac on a free transfer from Schalke and Alexandre Lacazette, who they forked out a club-record fee of £52.7m.
Sterling has progressed under Pep Guardiola’s stewardship.

Everyone is so comfortable there. They need a couple of powerhouses
But Redknapp thinks Arsenal are looking in the wrong areas and doesn’t think Sterling would plug their problems.
“I’m not saying he’s not a good player but is he what Arsenal need right now?” Redknapp said on Sky Sports’ The Debate show.
“Of course he is not. They’ve got lots of clever footballers.

“At the weekend against Liverpool, they should have just put the score in the corner before the game started because you knew how it was going to end.”
Sterling meanwhile, scored the winner in Manchester City’s 2-1 victory away to Bournemouth on Saturday.
But after picking up a red card, he will now serve a one-match ban and he will be ineligible for whichever club he plays for after deadline day tomorrow.
