Stoke v Arsenal: Gunners should have had penalty in first half - Graham Poll
ARSENAL should have been given a penalty in the first half of their game with Stoke this evening according to former Premier League referee Graham Poll, but he admits he would not have given it himself.
Stoke v Arsenal: Arsene Wenger's side should have had a penalty, says Graham Poll
Midway through the opening 45 minutes, Stoke winger Mame Diouf had a coming together with Arsenal wing-back Hector Bellerin in the 18-yard box following a through ball from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Referee Andre Marriner waved away claims from the vistors and awarded a corner kick after goalkeeper Jack Butland fumbled the ball behind.
With the benefit of a replay, Poll says techinally it was a penalty but can understand why it wasn't given from where Marriner was standing.
“I understood it from Andre’s position initially,” Poll said on BT Sport while working as an analyst.
So technically it’s a penalty but very hard to call live with one angle
“But when you see this angle here, you see Diouf just taking the back of Bellerin’s left leg.

“No I wouldn’t (have given it live).”
