The youngster stepped up and struck a wonder free kick to put Liverpool ahead in the tie after Simon Mignolet had saved a penalty.
The 18-year-old is in the team due to Nathaniel Clyne’s injury and also played against Watford on Saturday.
Jamie Carragher shared a picture of him and Alexander-Arnold as a mascot as he prepared to lead Liverpool out when he captained the club.
And Gerrard was also impressed.

It’s a fantastic strike. What a night for the kid. He’s played superb but to step up and have the character to take that ahead of the likes of Henderson [speaks volumes]
"It was a fabulous free kick," Gerrard said on BT Sport.

He signed a new long-term deal in the summer and is viewed by many as a future England player having represented up to under 19 level so far.
