Sanchez is entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates, however the Gunners have yet to agree a new deal with their star man.
The Chile international has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the north London club with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain both after his signature.
But former England ace Owen says the Gunners need to tie their star man down.
“He’s been brilliant since he’s been in the Premier League. I think Arsenal need him,” Owen told Express Sport.
“If they make one signing this season then it’s going to be to keep him and I know they’ll be doing all they can to do that.”

Sanchez returned to the Arsenal fold this week following his extend break after his involvement in the Confederations Cup, and Owen believes Arsene Wenger needs to integrate him back into the team as soon as possible.
“I think he’s a brilliant player, one of the best in the Premier League and if I were them, I’d be getting him back as long as there’s no risk attached to it," Owen added.
“Getting him into the team straight away because they need him as much as anyone because he’s their most important player.”
