Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool are not afraid to spend big like European rivals
JURGEN KLOPP insists Liverpool have the spending power to pay big money if the right player becomes available.
Jurgen Klopp on lack of transfers: 'I'm NOT worried'
So far Liverpool have spent close to £50million on Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke.
In contrast Manchester City have spent in excess of £200m while Chelsea and Manchester United have each parted with more than £100m on new signings.
Liverpool have been frustrated in their attempts to sign both Southampton's Virgil Van Dijk and RB Leipzig's Naby Keita this summer, both of which would require a club record fee to bring to Anfield.
But Klopp says Liverpool's lack of spending isn't down to their financial restraints.

Liverpool have already had two club-record bids rejected by RB Leipzig for Naby Keita
We are not afraid of big numbers at the club, we are not afraid to spend
“We are not afraid of big numbers at the club, we are not afraid to spend,” Klopp told Goal.
“But we have to do the right things, look at the right players and negotiate with the right clubs.”
With Champions League football now on Liverpool's calendar for the upcoming season, Klopp will be required to utilise his squad's depth.
And the Liverpool boss went on to explain the club's strategy in this summer's transfer window.
“There’s two possibilities to strengthen the squad: one is to get better players, the other is to get players with similar quality to what you have,” Klopp added.
“It’s difficult to get better players, because the ones we have are already really good.
"If you get the same quality, then the age group that they’re in means that very big steps are possible for everyone - the new players and the ones already at the club.
“That’s what then gives the push in the performance, that’s what we’re looking for.”
