Jurgen Klopp hints Mamadou Sakho could be given Liverpool lifeline
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule out Mamadou Sakho making a sensational return to the first-team.
Mamadou Sakho showcases his sharp defending skills
Sakho's Liverpool career looked over last season after he infuriated manager Klopp by breaking club rules on their pre-season tour of America.
He consequently spent the first half of the campaign training with the reserves, before then joining Crystal Palace on loan in January.
The 27-year-old impressed during his time at Selhurst Park, helping the Eagles finish 14th in the Premier League table.
However, he angered Reds supporters by celebrating during Palace's 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield back in April.
Mamadou Sakho could yet stay at Liverpool
The France international exchanged a handshake with goalscorer Christian Benteke from the sidelines - despite being ineligible to play due to Premier League regulations.
Sakho was absent from the Liverpool team that beat Tranmere Rovers 4-0 in a pre-season friendly last night.
The defender is currently recovering from a knee injury that ended his loan spell with Palace.
Klopp was asked after the game whether the centre-back would feature in the build-up to the new Premier League season.

And he appeared to hint he was not against keeping Sakho despite exiling the defender 12 months ago.
The German said: “First of all he needs to get 100% fit and then we will see."
Liverpool could be forced to keep Sakho with Palace reluctant to meet the club's £30million asking price.
