Everton eye Christian Benteke as alternative to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud: No contact made
EVERTON are lining up Christian Benteke as a contingency plan if they can’t sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, according to reports.
Everton are keeping tabs on Christian Benteke
Everton have already been very busy so far this summer and have brought Wayne Rooney back to Goodison Park.
The Toffees have already spent close to £90million on player acquisitions.
Ronald Koeman has shown interest in signing Olivier Giroud, who failed to hold down a regular starting spot at Arsenal last term.
Reports last weekend suggested the Merseyside outfit would step up their pursuit for the Frenchman as they seek a replacement for Lukaku.

And according to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace forward Benteke has been discussed as a potential target.
The report says no contact has been made between the clubs.
However, Palace would loathe to lose the Belgian, who only signed in a £27m deal last summer from Liverpool.
Olivier Giroud is on Everton's wishlist
The Mail also suggests former Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko is on Koeman’s radar.
Everton are hoping to sign three more players, including Gylfi Sigurdsson, although Swansea are reportedly demanding upwards of £45m for his signature.
Despite the Toffees’ interest in Giroud, he still travelled to Australia for the Gunners’ pre-season tour.
