Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea: Phil Jagielka worried about losing Everton star
PHIL JAGIELKA has explained Romelu Lukaku would be a 'massive loss' if he left Everton.
Everton forward Romelu Lukaku misses OPEN goal
Romelu Lukaku, who has yet to sign a new deal with Everton, is wanted by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
Chelsea are bracing themselves for the departure of Diego Costa, who was informed via text message by Conte that he won't be a part of his plans for next season.
Lukaku is also wanted by Manchester United, but doesn’t seem to be fazed by the transfer speculation judging by his latest instagram account.
However, Jagielka is worried that if the Belgium international leaves Goodison Park, then his side will need two strikers to fill the void.
Romelu Lukaku is expected to leave Everton
If we sign two players in his place and they both score 15 goals, then OK
“Obviously, his goals would be a massive loss but I don’t know if he’s going or if he’s not going,” said Jagielka.
“It would be up to the manager and the club to replace him.
"If we sign two players in his place and they both score 15 goals, then OK.
“Most clubs would want Romelu Lukaku in their team.
"If it’s not to be us next season, we have to make sure we’ve got people that either come in or step up to the plate.
Phil Jagielka is worried what will happen if Romelu Lukaku leaves
“The one disappointing thing last season was not that Romelu got us all those goals, but that not many other people hit double figures as well.
“If you are going to compete at the top level, you need two, three or four people getting at least eight goals and upwards and that’s something we’ll be looking at.
“I’m sure the manager has an idea of who he wants for what position, he doesn’t need to phone me and tell me what he’s going to do!”
Lukaku was Everton's top scorer last term with 25 goals.
