Schweinsteiger arrived at Manchester United from Bayern Munich with big expectations back in the summer of 2015.
But after toiling under Louis van Gaal, and then being exiled by Jose Mourinho, the World Cup winner moved to Chicago Fire two months ago.
The former Germany international penned a one-year deal with the MLS side but his latest comments suggest he is unhappy plying his trade in America.

His current club at currently sixth in the MLS, whereas he was used to winning title after title during his time in the Bundesliga.
"If you compare it to Bayern Munich or the [Germany] national team, the difference is huge. But I knew what I let myself in for," he added.
"The league is interesting because it's evident everyone can beat everyone. And sometimes things happen you just don't understand. This might be referee decisions or the running paths or passes of a teammate. It's different than in Europe, but you have to take things as they are."
