Arsenal eye move for Borussia Dortmund star
ARSENAL are reportedly targeting Borussia Dortmund star Sven Bender.
Sky pundits have little sympathy for Arsenal loan Jack Wilshere
Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his defensive options, with a move for Southampton's Virgil van Dijk also in the pipeline.
Bender's versatility makes him appealing for the Gunners as he can play as a holding midfielder or at centre-half.
Sven Bender has been at Borussia Dortmund for eight years
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have previously shown interest
Despite enduring a difficult campaign at the Westfalenstadion due to injury, Arsenal rate the 27-year-old.
According to TransferMarketWeb, Bender has been identified as a summer target at the Emirates.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have previously shown interest in the Germany international.
Southampton star Virgil van Dijk is also on Arsenal's radar
But Bender has remained loyal to Dortmund, who he joined in 2009, and is contracted to the Bundesliga club until 2021.
With Santi Cazorla's future in doubt and Granit Xhaka having failed to impress though, a swoop could be pursued for Bender.
His Dortmund team-mate Marco Reus also remains on Arsenal's wishlist.
