Manchester United and AC Milan in transfer battle for wantaway £80m star
MANCHESTER UNITED face a transfer battle with AC Milan to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez, according to reports.
James Rodriguez is reportedly a target for Manchester United and AC Milan
James Rodriguez is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer following a difficult season under Zinedine Zidane.
Reports in Spain say Rodriguez's team-mates have given him the joke nickname 'The Apollo' as they anticipate him leaving the club - like the space shuttle.
And Manchester United were thought to be the frontrunners for his signature, with Jose Mourinho reportedly keen to sign the Colombia international.

However, Italian outlet TransferMarketWeb claim AC Milan have now renewed their interest in the 25-year-old.
The report says Milan are stepping up their efforts to bring the midfielder to the San Siro, despite not having the allure of Champions League football.
And they are reportedly willing to take on Europe's top clubs to see a deal done for the former Monaco man.
Milan's interest in Rodriguez stretches back to last month when the club reportedly held transfer talks with Real.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claimed the Serie A side put forward an offer of £80million for Rodriguez to ensure their rivals Inter could not compete.
The Colombian has made 28 appearances for Real this season in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists.
