Manchester United confirm Juan Mata injury in shock statement
MANCHESTER UNITED have confirmed midfielder Juan Mata has undergone surgery on his groin.

The 28-year-old was not among the Manchester United players who arrived at The Lowry Hotel this evening as the team met up before tomorrow's clash with West Brom.
And United released a statement confirming Mata had joined several of his team-mates on the sidelines following an operation on Thursday.

A club statement said: "Juan has had surgery for a groin injury. Further updates on his recovery will follow in due course."
The news will come as a blow to United boss Jose Mourinho, who is already without a number of players for the game against the Baggies.

Paul Pogba, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all have injuries while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera serve the final game of their suspensions.
United have a busy month in April with nine games scheduled as they fight to finish in the top four and win the Europa League.
