Cech has been Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper for much of the season but suffered what appeared to be a similar injury late last term when injuring his calf in a defeat to Swansea.
The stopper had already kept Arsenal level with West Brom with a magnificent save to deny Darren Fletcher.
Arsenal were already without Mesut Ozil for the clash at the Hawthorns after the Germany international injured his hamstring in the week.
