SUNDERLAND striker Jermain Defoe is set for a shock recall to the England squad.

Defoe has been in fine form for Sunderland this season, scoring 14 goals in 27 Premier League appearances so far.
And with strikers Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney out though injury, the 34-year-old is set to be named in Gareth Southgate's squad to face Germany and Lithuania.

Defoe hasn't featured for the Three Lions since November 2013, when he came off the bench in the 2-0 friendly defeat to Chile.
Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse is also in line for a call-up.

The 22-year-old worked alongside Southgate in the Under-21s and has impressed for the Saints this term.
Ward-Prowse, who has scored two goals and provided five assists for Cladue Puel's side across all competitions, is yet to make his senior international debut.
