But, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, negotiations have broken down between the club and Insigne's representatives.
Napoli have valued Insigne at around £40million and Klopp is likely to be given a big budget this summer by Liverpool's owners to reinvest heavily in the squad.
Daniel Sturridge's future at Liverpool remains uncertain due to his fitness concerns and Klopp will be hoping to add more squad depth to his attacking options.
