MANCHESTER UNITED striker Wayne Rooney would be open to a return to Everton, according to former manager David Moyes.

Moyes gave Rooney his Everton debut during his time at Goodison Park.
He also managed the forward during his turbulent spell in charge of Manchester United.
Rooney's Old Trafford future is uncertain despite snubbing a move to the Chinese Super League.
The England international said on Thursday he would stay at the club despite his agent Paul Stretford travelling to the Far East for transfer talks.

Having managed him twice, Moyes knows all about Rooney.
And the Sunderland boss reckons the striker would prefer an emotional return to Everton should he leave United at the end of the season.
“My feeling is there is only one other club Wayne would play for in the Premier League, and that’s Everton,” Moyes said.

“He’s been a brilliant Manchester United player and given everything for them.
"But he’s an Everton supporter and I think they are now in a position where they could take it on [a deal for Rooney].
"Wayne is still incredibly close to the club.”
Rooney made 77 appearances for Everton under Moyes before leaving for United in a £30million deal back in 2004.
