Barcelona hold secret meeting with Italy international: Chelsea and Man United linked
CHELSEA and Manchester United could reportedly be trumped in their bid to land Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti.
Marco Verratti - 5 things you need to know
Antonio Conte tried to sign a midfielder last month and was linked with Atalanta’s Franck Kessie, although a deal was never forthcoming.
The Blues boss is keen to bolster his squad come the summer, and has been considering Verratti as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas.
In United’s case, Jose Mourinho could swoop for Verratti to fill the void for Michael Carrick.
The 24-year-old Italian has been linked to a cluster of top European clubs including Juventus.
But according to Spanish paper Sport, Barcelona have made a play for Verratti.

It is reported a meeting was held between Barca officials and Verratti’s representatives.
Verratti admitted last week he would only join the Catalan giants if they came calling.
“Even though I am currently in a good project and I feel at home, any player would play for Barcelona,” Verratti said.
“It is still the best team in the world.
“They have the three best players in attack, and Iniesta too.”
