Zinedine Zidane: Star could leave Real Madrid… Manchester United to swoop
REAL MADRID boss Zinedine Zidane has suggested Manchester United target Pepe may not be given a new contract in the summer.
Real Madrid ace Pepe's WORLD CLASS defensive skills
Pepe is out of contract with Real Madrid in the summer and is yet to agree terms on a new deal.
The 33-year-old is currently one of the club's longest-serving players having been with Real for a decade.
However, despite his affiliation with the club, manager Zinedine Zidane has suggested there is no guarantee he will be handed a new contract.
Pepe is reportedly a target for Manchester United
Jose Mournho knows Pepe from his Real Madrid days
"Pepe is an important player, and he always gives his best when he is playing," Zidane said ahead of Real's game with Valencia tomorrow night.
"I will count on him until the end of the season.
"After that, I don't know what could happen with his contract."
Zidane's comments will come as a boost for Manchester United who are keen to snap up Pepe on a free transfer in the summer.
And Jose Mourinho is said to know him well and hopes this will help United see off competition from China and Europe.
Pepe has made 329 appearances for Real, winning the La Liga title on two occasions and two Champions League trophies.
He was also part of Fernando Santos's Euro 2016-winning Portugal side.
