CRAIG GORDON will reportedly seek Celtic’s approval to discuss a potential transfer with Chelsea.
Marcotti: Chelsea have handled Costa saga brilliantly
Express Sport understands Antonio Conte had a bid rejected for the goalkeeper yesterday worth around £3million.
Chelsea are looking to replace outgoing Asmir Begovic, who is expected to leave for Bournemouth before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
With the Cherries set to land back-up Begovic for £10m, Conte has made a shortlist of targets with Gordon on his radar.
Craig Gordon has been Celtic's regular in goal since arriving in 2014
Craig feels he cannot allow the possibility of a move to Chelsea to pass without at least exploring it
Brendan Rodgers last night sent a warning to Chelsea that Celtic do not want to sell their 34-year-old shot-stopper.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Gordon wants to be given the opportunity to listen to the Blues’ proposal.
A source said: “Craig feels he cannot allow the possibility of a move to Chelsea to pass without at least exploring it.”
With the keeper looking to reach an informed decision over his future and next move, Conte could persuade him to move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte needs a new back-up to Thibaut Courtois
Asmir Begovic is set to leave Chelsea for Bournemouth in a deal worth £10m
While Thibaut Courtois will remain Chelsea’s first choice keeper, ex-Sunderland man Gordon would earn himself a place on the bench ahead of Eduardo.
He is not desperate to leave Celtic Park, having settled there since arriving in the summer of 2014.
Injuries have blighted his career, but he could earn one more big move in the form of Chelsea.
