Arsenal Transfer News: Midfielder move confirmed, Chelsea eye Gunners ace, boss talks deal
EXPRESS SPORT brings you the latest Arsenal transfer news.
The best of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez
Barcelona midfielder Sergi Samper has confirmed Arsenal made a move for his services in the summer, but he told Arsene Wenger he wants to remain at the Nou Camp.
"I did not want to listen to Wenger," said Samper, who joined La Liga rivals Granada on a season-long loan in August.
I told him clearly that I wanted to stay, I wanted to succeed at Barcelona, and what would make me happy was succeeding at Barcelona in the future.
"I feel important in the [Granada] team. I am enjoying where I am and I hope that we can change the situation."
Sergi Samper rejected a move to Arsenal in the summer
Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez.
The Mirror claim Chelsea will look to sign the Chilean if leading goalscorer Diego Costa continues to push for a move in the summer.
The Spain international was dropped from Antonio Conte's squad to face Leicester on Saturday after he was subject of an £80million bid from Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian.
The Blues are also said to be keen on re-signing Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku and Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata.
Sam Allardyce says Carl Jenkinson to Crystal Palace is not a done deal
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has revealed a transfer for Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson is yet to be completed.
But Allardyce admitted after last night's 2-1 FA Cup win over Bolton that he plans to talk to Palace chairman Steve Parish to find out how close the deal is.
“I’ll probably be speaking to the chairman tonight to see where that’s at,” Allardyce said. “We’ll let you know when we complete deals.
“Hopefully in the next 48 hours one of those targets will be saying yes. We’ve made about eight bids and only had one accepted – for Jeffrey Schlupp.”
