Jerome Sinclair hoping to lead the way for young players at Watford after FA Cup goal
JEROME SINCLAIR hopes this win signals a change in fortunes for the club – as well as heralding a shift away from the Hornets’ reliance on foreign imports.
Jerome Sinclair scored his first Watford goal
Youth product Brandon Mason, 19, made his first start and set up the opener for Christian Kabasele while Sinclair, 20, a £4m capture from Liverpool last summer, made sure with a 20-yard shot in the second half.
“It is very important for the young players to see that there is a pathway here to come through to the first team and make an impact,” said Sinclair.

“Brandon has been top drawer. He has come in and looked at ease at this level and hopefully more young players can play their role like him.”
Sinclair became Liverpool’s youngest first team player in 2012 at 16 years and six days but is sure he made the right decision to move south even though he has made only one Premier League start.
“It wasn’t a matter of coming here and demanding game time. I know that as a young player I have got things I need to work on and I’m trying to do that,” said Sinclair.
“Troy Deeney has taken me under his wing a little bit. We’re both from the same area, being from Birmingham, so he’s been a big brother figure to me. He was screaming for me to shoot.”
