ASTON VILLA look set to sell striker Rudy Gestede to Middlesbrough, with talks already at an advanced stage, according to reports.
Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede is set to leave the club
Gestede travelled to Middlesbrough last night to secure the deal, which will earn Aston Villa around £6million.
The Benin international has scored just four goals for Villa all season - and just once since September.
And the Birmingham Mail claim the transfer will be wrapped up this week, with Gestede likely out of today’s clash with Cardiff.
Newcastle were hopeful of signing the 28-year-old heading into the January transfer window.
But their interest is said to have died once Villa manager Steve Bruce confirmed Gestede was in talks with a Premier League side over a move.

Gestede cost Villa £6m when he arrived from Blackburn in the summer of 2015.
He scored six goals for the club in the Premier League last season but could not help prevent the side dropping out of the top flight.
