Sterling came off in the 57th minute of Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Burnley last weekend.
Sane, replacement at Turf Moor, starts with Kevin de Bruyne, Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Jesus Navas making up a strong attacking unit.
Manager Pep Guardiola has named just three defenders, with Fernandinho and Ilkay Gundogan in central midfield.

John Stones returns to the defence alongside Nicolas Otamendi and Aleksandar Kolarov.
In reverting to three defenders, manager Pep Guardiola may be trying to match up to Chelsea’s 3-4-3 formation.
Full-backs Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy are sent to the bench, while Yaya Toure is also one of six changes to the first XI.
